Freaky Friday 2 is going to happen. Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan were funny together on-screen twenty years ago, and now they are ready for a new adventure in the sequel to the two-thousand comedy.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Disney is ready to keep going with the story of Anna and Tess, a girl and her mother who switch bodies on a Freaky Friday for both of them.
Freaky Friday was based on the same-named 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers. It wasn’t the first or last movie about people switching bodies, but it is still known as one of the best comedies of the 1970s and 2000s.
The movie Freaky Friday was directed by Mark Waters and written by Heather Hach and Leslie Dixon. It made more than $160 million around the world and has been a culture landmark for 20 years, with Curtis bringing it up in public.
A few months ago, Curtis told the New York Times in an article about the 2003 movie’s legacy that people kept asking him about a possible sequel to Freaky Friday while he was pushing his upcoming horror movie, Halloween: Final Night, which comes out in 2022.
“Something really rang true. “When I got home, I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘It looks like there’s a movie to be made,'” the actress said.

Lohan, who was one of the biggest young stars of the 2000s, would go back to Disney for Freaky Friday 2. In the past few years, he’s been making a comeback with a two-film deal on Netflix, one of which was the hit romantic comedy “Navidad.”
“Jamie and I are open to that, but it’s up to the people in charge to decide. He told the Times that if there was a spinoff, they would only do something that people would love.
In an interview with The View last October, Jamie Lee Curtis said that he had an idea for the next movie. At the time, he said he wanted Lohan to be the “sexy granny” and that he would like to deal with today’s little kids.
“Let me be the old lady!” Curtis said, “Let me be the older woman who has to switch places.”
“Then Lindsay and I can switch bodies and I can be the “sexy granny” who is still happy with Mark Harmon. I’d like to see Lindsay play the sexy grandmother, and I’d like to deal with the little kids of today. I want to be a helicopter parent as an older woman in the world we live in now.”

After a month, Lohan said that she liked Curtis’s idea for a spinoff and would be happy to come back for Mad Friday 2. It looks like everyone got what they wanted, especially the fans who have been waiting for a remake for 20 years.
What is Freaky Friday 2 About?
Freaky Friday came out in 2003. Lindsay Lohan played a teen rocker named Anna, and Curtis played her strict mother Tess.
In the movie, there is a big age difference between the mother and daughter, but things take an unexpected turn when a strange magical power from a fortune cookie makes them switch places for a day, on a Friday that is very important to both of them.
Then, the experience helps them see the world in a new way. In the end, they learn about the social problems that each age faces. So, mom and daughter work out their problems and learn to trust each other.

Since Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are in the second movie, we can expect them to play Anna and Tess again. Twenty years is a long time, and a lot can happen in that time. Just as the first Freaky Friday movie from 2003 looked at the problems between kids and their parents, Freaky Friday 2 could show what has happened in the family in that time.
When will the Freaky Friday 2 release?
Freaky Friday 2 doesn’t have a release date yet, and it hasn’t even started pre-production yet. We’ll let you know if anything changes, though.
