Adipurush Gets A ‘Massive Start’ at Over ₹ 37 Crore

Adipurush, directed by Om Raut, was released in theaters on Friday and had a strong opening weekend. Taran Adarsh, a Bollywood trade analyst, tweeted that the film made 37.25 crore on its first day. Taran Adarsh tweeted the box office collection of the Hindi version of the film in India, saying, “A tremendous start was on the cards due to the excitement, and advance bookings were an indicative of that… As expected, Adipurush has made a great start on Day 1… Fri 37.25 cr. Nett BOC from India. NOTE: Bollywood version. Box office.”

Taran Adarsh deconstructed the film’s business in several theater chains, writing, “Adipurush at national chains*… Day 1… PVR: 6.75 cr, INOX: 5.60 cr, Cinepolis: 3.10 cr.” 15.45 crores.”

The film received mostly average reviews from critics at its initial release. Saibal Chatterjee, a film critic for NDTV, gave the film 1.5 stars out of 5 and stated, “Adipurush, a bloated and vacuous cinematic version of a part of the Ramayana, does the epic or its civilisation-defining characters no justice at all.”

Prabhas plays Raghav, Kriti Sanon plays Janaki, Sunny Singh plays Shesh, and Devdatta Nage plays Hanuman in Adipurush, which is based on the Ramayana. Saif Ali Khan plays the antagonist Lankesh in the film. The film was released in theaters in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

The film was originally scheduled to be released on August 11, last year. However, the release date was postponed to prevent a clash with Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha, for which the actor expressed gratitude to the creators of Adipurush.
