Timothée Chalamet is now leaving for a world of sweets and pure imagination, following in the path of two movie giants.
Willy Wonka is one of the most well-known characters in Roald Dahl’s books and movies. He has been played by great actors like Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp, who brought the famous chocolatier to life in Tim Burton’s remake of the story from 2005, which made some changes to the original story.
In 1971, Gene Wilder played Dahl in a Mel Stuart movie that was nominated for an Oscar and made millions of kids around the world wish they could find a golden ticket in their candy and go on a tour of the huge factory full of sugar and madness. Now, Chalamet will have the chance to make his own version of the character.
Reports say that the Dune and Little Women actor will talk about what happened to Willy Wonka before he became the eccentric candy king we met in the movie in the director’s new movie that Paddington gave us.

Deadline broke the news about the hiring, saying that Wonka will sing and dance in several musical numbers, just like Gene Wilder has in the past. Collider also said in January that Warner Bros. was deciding between Chalamet and Tom Holland for the part of young Wonka.
What do we know about the new Wonka?
The movie will be called “Wonka”, and Paul King, who directed “Paddington,” will work from a story that he and Simon Farnaby wrote together. David Heyman, who made Paddington and the Harry Potter movies for Warners, will produce Wonka. Luke Kelly will also produce the movie, which will be overseen by Michael Siegeland and Alexandra Derbyshire.
Reports say that the origin story will be based on Roald Dahl’s children’s book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It will be about Willy Wonka’s adventures as a young man, before he started his huge chocolate factory.
Since the movie takes place in Wonka’s youth, Charlie Bucket’s character won’t be in it. It’s also unclear if we’ll see the funny and sometimes cynical Oompa Loompas, who worked in the factory making sweets and keeping the river of chocolate flowing. However, it’s likely that they will be a part of the adventure in some way.
When will Wonka be released?
Since its release date is known to be December 15, 2023, people expect it to be the best Christmas movie of the year. Burton’s version of Willy Wonka was a little weird, and classic fans didn’t like it very much. But now there’s a new chance, and with Chalamet on the project, expectations are sure to be very high.
And with Olivia Colman, Keegan Michael-Key, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Matt Lucas, Hugh Grant, Ellie White, Simon Farnaby, Jim Carter, Peterson Joseph, Matthew Baynton, Rich Fulcher, and Natash.

The first pictures from the Willy Wonka movie have finally been shown. Timothée Chalamet can be seen in them as the famous chocolatier. In some of them, he wears the famous hat and his silk coat, which is now wine-colored instead of black in the original.
