Gladiator 2 is probably one of the most awaited sequels in movie history. The first film, which came out in 2000, won 5 Oscars, including one for Best Actor for Russell Crowe, and turned Joaquin Phoenix into a bad guy. The first movie was a classic, and the second one follows the story.

In the original movie, a Roman emperor’s favorite soldier is sold into slavery. This happens because the emperor’s son, played by Joaquin Phoenix, is jealous and thinks that his father won’t choose him as his successor. So, he kills his father, blames the soldier, and now has the perfect reason to sell the soldier.

Maximus, the soldier, becomes a Roman gladiator. As he wins more fights, his fame grows and he gets closer and closer to freedom. He also keeps looking for a way to get back at the man who destroyed his life and the lives of his family.

The movie has a clear ending, but Ridley Scott knows that sequels can be powerful, so he chose to keep going with the story, but this time focus on Lucius, who was just a boy in the first movie.

Paul Mescal-Lucius

The actor who was nominated for an Oscar for the movie Aftersun and also appeared in The Lost Daughter and the Normal People series was chosen to play the adult version of Lucius in Gladiator 2. Lucius is the son of Princess Lucilla and was destined to become the emperor of Rome as an adult. His life is in danger when his uncle Commodus decides he wants the throne and doesn’t want to have a child as competition.

Lucius becomes friends with Maximus while he is a fighter, and he teaches Lucius a lot of important lessons about life. These lessons will be important in the next book.

Barry Keoghan – Emperor Geta

Geta is Caracalla’s younger brother. He is also the son of Septimus Severus, who was the Emperor of Rome. After his father and brother died, Geta took over as Emperor.

According to rumors, Barry Keoghan, who has been in movies like The Banshees of Inisherin, Dunkirk, and The Killing of a Sacred Deer, will play this role.
