Squid Game Season 2 is Netflix’s biggest surprise. It’s a Korean show that came to streaming without a lot of hype or noise, but word of mouth spread about it and made people curious all over the world.

The cruel Korean series — Squid Game — started with a desperate man who was divorced, poor, and had a lot of debt. After being attacked by debt collectors, he was told to play a child’s game to make a lot of money. Seong Gi-hun loses a few times, but in the end he wins a lot of money. The man who invited him tells him that if he wants more money, he should call a number on a card and agree to play more games. This makes him curious about what else is going on.

Gi-hun calls the number, a van comes to get him, and he wakes up with 400 other people who also called the same number. All of it seems harmless at first, but when the first game, a deadly version of a classic children’s game, kills almost half of the players, he and the others understand that if they lose, they won’t get out alive.

But everyone is broke and needs money, so they all decide to go back to the game and keep fighting to stay alive. Things keep getting creepier and bloodier. We find out that the dead players were part of a side business of the guards and that a policeman is looking for his brother. If the seller wins, he or she will have a lot of blood on their hands, and the story could go on.

Who will be back for Squid Game Season 2?

The author of the show has given us some hints about what will happen in season 2. He has also said that we will see some “veterans” again.

Hwang Dong-hyuk told Contenders TV, “Gi-hun is definitely. He will return, and I think the boss will return as well.” Gi-hun is the only person who made it through the squid trials. At the end of the season, he chooses to try to stop the people who made the game and kill them.

Lee Byung-hun, the boss, could also come back because Hwang said he wants to hear more of his story. And around the middle of March, the person who made the game talked about how player 67, HoYeon Jung, might come back. Hwang said that the actress could play the twin sister who is 67 years old, but nothing has been revealed about her yet.

Lastly, many fans think that Hwang Jun-ho, the police officer who infiltrated the group and found out that the leader was his brother, could still be living and join Gi-hun on his mission.

The new ones at Squid Game Season 2

During Brazil’s TUDUM event, Netflix showed a first teaser for the second season. It announced that Seong would be back and that there would be new characters, played by actor and singer Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-geun.

Based on what you see in the Squid Game Season 2 teaser, these four people could be new players, or they could be part of the group that made the game in the first place.

At the end of Squid Game Season 1, we learn that the games have been going on for years, that there have been several winners, and that there are records of all the losers. We also learn that the mysterious leader with the black mask won his own version of the games. It turns out that the leader is Hwang Jun-ho’s lost brother, but he wasn’t the one who made the first Squid Game.

We were very surprised to find out that the games were planned by Oh Il-nam, also known as the old man and player number 0001. He did this with a few of his wealthy friends who didn’t know what to do with their money, so they chose to be cruel.

In the last episode, Seong Gi-hun (0456) finds out where the games really came from. He also gets a card for the next year’s edition, so he chooses to take the chance to face the people who made the games.

Where Can You Watch Squid Game Season 2?

Given that Squid Game Season 1 is one of Netflix’s most-watched shows ever, it’s no surprise that Season 2 will be available only on the streaming service. Due to the ongoing Writer’s Strike, Netflix has seen a few unexpected delays, with the final seasons of Stranger Things and Cobra Kai being placed on indefinite hold until the strike is completed. Fortunately, the service has some completed projects on the horizon, like the third season of The Witcher and the live-action anime adaption One Piece.

What will happen in Squid Game Season 2?

Really, anything is possible. You could jump back in time to see the first games, how 001 and his friends decided to make them, why they chose children’s games, and even where the scary robot girl who killed everyone in the Green Light, Red Light game came from. It would also be interesting to see how the guards who make sure “order” is kept are chosen and trained.
