The Day Before Release Date
The Day Before release date has been pushed out to November 10, 2023. The open world survival game was supposed to be released on March 1, 2023, but a delay pushed one of the most anticipated future PC games back by ten months. This isn’t the first time The Day Before has been postponed, with Fntastic previously missing a June 2022 deadline to switch to Unreal Engine 5.
The Day Before Beta Version
The game’s beta version will take place ahead of The Day Before release date of November 10, according to developer Fntastic. A member of the development team confirmed on the game’s official Discord channel that “as we get closer to the release date, we will be conducting a beta test for the game” that will “give players the opportunity to try out the game before it is released and provide valuable feedback that we can use to improve the final product.” There is no additional information on the beta date, but we will update this page as soon as we discover more.

The Day Before Delay
Following a trademark issue, Fntastic was obliged to announce a The Day Before postponement on January 25. The studio claims that “at the time of the announcement, The Day Before game trademark was available,” but that “a private individual filled out an application before us to register the game trademark The Day Before in the United States” in the months since its announcement. Fntastic claims that it was only recently made aware of accusations against the studio’s usage of the trademarked name, and that it is now working to “solve everything” – citing this as the main reason for the delay of both the game and any new video.
The Day Before Trailers
The first trailer for The Day Before Release Date was in January 2021. It included several minutes of gameplay as well as a commentary track introducing and detailing major aspects. Two gamers in the trailer explore an abandoned New York City junction, robbing wrecked automobiles and shops for materials. A competing squad ambushes the main player, forcing him to fight back, attracting the attention of a horde of infected.
This was followed by a 13-minute gameplay clip that showed life outside of the metropolis. The player travels on and off-road, exploring and robbing the businesses, gas stations, and farms they come across while fending off other players and infected and hiding from the cops. It also shows the player mending their car, implying that vehicles must be maintained and promoting what appears to be an extensive crafting system.

A third trailer featured several clips of the player walking through various areas, demonstrating the breadth of content available to players, ranging from the streets of New York and the surrounding countryside to a gym, bar, and even a massive mall reminiscent of those seen in Dead Rising and Left 4 Dead 2. It also has a modest log home with decorations that are added over time, implying that players will be able to build and decorate a sort of base over time.
All of these trailers have since been removed from the Fntastic YouTube channel, but there is currently a developer Vlog displaying the game in various stages of completion, including the current development build.
The Day Before Gameplay
We recently saw some raw MMO gameplay footage in which we’re exposed to deconstructing objects at a crafting table in order to modify guns. These upgrades can substantially alter the qualities of a gun, with sights increasing the distance at which one can efficiently shoot foes. We also see the player decipher a four-digit code to deactivate an alarm while rummaging through a shop’s contents.
The action in The Day Before is mostly gun-based, with bullets serving as the quickest and most efficient means of dispatching players and infected. Guns make a lot of noise, alerting everyone around to your location, thus melee weapons are equally as useful in some scenarios, especially if you’re attempting to stay undiscovered.
Customization is also a big deal in Fntastic’s zombie game, with players able to personalize their weapons with attachments obtained while looting. The game will also include bespoke finishers that alter depending on the weapon you are using.

As an MMO, player connection is essential, and the game includes numerous elements to support this, such as voice chat. There are also safe zones, which were mentioned briefly in the game’s debut trailer, where players can trade loot with NPCs, do tasks, and meet other players.
What platforms will The Day Before Release on?
The game’s survival MMO will be available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC as of new The Day Before release date announcement.
There has been no word on a Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch, or Mac release. That’s everything there is to know about The Day Before. We will update this story when more information becomes available, so be sure to check back soon for additional information.
The Day Before Unreal Engine 5
The Day Before release date was pushed back due to the decision to transfer the project’s development to Unreal Engine 5. According to Fntastic, the switch to a “more advanced and adapted open worlds engine will make the gameplay of The Day Before even more fantastic.” As we’ve seen in other upcoming Unreal Engine 5 games, Epic’s latest engine is capable of delivering an impressively realistic degree of detail that truly takes advantage of new-gen technology. The environments we’ve seen so far are impressive, but The Day Before’s world will surely benefit from the relocation – let’s hope it increases the sense of immersion as we plunder areas.
The Day Before Dev Vlog
Following The Day Before’s delay and setbacks due to a trademark issue, the studio revealed that a development update is on the way. The vlog, which was released as part of the “Life at Fntastic” video series, describes how the game has developed since development began in 2019, although it didn’t show us any new footage. There are still many unanswered issues about the project, and the video has only added to them since its publication.

The Day Before Controversy
With a growing sense of expectation surrounding the MMO since its introduction in 2021, some skepticism and criticism concerning The Day Before has emerged. Shortly after the postponement announcement, the studio looked to be searching for “volunteers” to help with upcoming projects. The website’s depiction of part-time volunteers “ranging from translating to community moderating” who earn non-monetary perks such as “participation certificates and free codes” was the most contentious topic.
The skepticism, on the other hand, is mostly due to the fact that we haven’t seen much gameplay or received much information about the game, which has only increased as The Day Before release date approaches.
