Karate Kid is one of the few movies in film history that is still popular after so many years. Both people who grew up with the original movie and people who have never seen it before want to see the new versions so they can meet this famous action movie character.
In the first Karate Kid movie, which came out in 1984 and was directed by John G. Avildsen, the story was based on real events. Later came Karate Kid II (1986), Karate Kid III (1989), The New Karate Kid (1994), the TV show Cobra Kai, and The Karate Kid (2010), a remake of the original movie directed by Harald Zwart and starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith.
Now, the success of the Karate Kid movies and series seems almost certain, and Sony has just announced that it is getting ready to release a new movie from this universe. This will be added to the recent production of Cobra Kai (which, by the way, was criticized for some karate mistakes it made) and to the series of movies that have been made about this character and his martial arts skills since the 1980s. What is the story of the new Karate Kid movie?
We don’t know much about the plot of the new Karate Kid movie yet, but since it’s the same story, it’s likely that Ralph Macchio and William Zabka will be in it. Even more so because they told us from the start that Cobra Kai would only have a few seasons, but that it could be followed by a new trilogy based on a story that has been in our minds since the 1980s. This makes us think that it is about this new movie and what may come after it.
There are also fan theories that the new Karate Kid movies will be able to combine characters like Hilary Swank’s Julie Pierce, which fans have wanted for years, with newer faces from this franchise, like the Karate Kid by Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith.

Well, if we remember that when Karate Kid came out in 2010, it wasn’t well received and only made $400 million at the box office (which is still a lot), we can see that Cobra Kai has been more popular and is doing very well right now. This makes us think that there will be a lot more of this series in the new martial arts movies than in the old ones.
