When paired with smartphones from the same respective brands, Apple AirPods Pro, OnePlus and Oppo’s truly wireless headsets, and Samsung’s selection of Galaxy Buds headsets all tend to have an advantage in terms of features or capabilities.

Similar thinking can be seen in Google’s Pixel Buds series, which is designed with Android smartphones and tablets in mind. In the past, though, there hasn’t been a good flagship true wireless headset from Google. With the introduction of the Google Pixel Buds Pro, which have a price of Rs. 19,990 in India, that has changed.

The Pixel Buds Pro are a feature-rich true wireless option with active noise canceling, wireless charging, and hands-free access to Google Assistant that aim to compete with premium models from companies like Apple, Samsung, and Sony, among others. Is this the best genuine wireless flagship headset available for Android users? Learn more from Google Pixel Buds Pro review.

Google Pixel Buds Pro Review and Features

The Pixel Buds Pro adhere to the established appearance and feel of the Pixel Buds series thanks to Google’s constant design and styling. Despite the fact that they are substantially bigger and bulkier than the Pixel Buds A-Series, the earpieces are designed such that they don’t protrude quite as much as you might expect. In actuality, all that weight not only guarantees a snug and rather comfortable fit, but also provides superb passive noise insulation.

Google Pixel Buds Pro app and specifications

The Google Pixel Buds Pro require an Android cellphone in order to take full advantage of their functions, just like the Apple AirPods series does. This applies to the exclusive to Android Pixel Buds app as well. By simply pairing the headset with the iOS device, as you would with any other set of Bluetooth earbuds, you can use the earphones with an iPhone if you so choose.

The Pixel Buds app is fairly well designed, with a tidy home screen that neatly lists all the essential features. When paired, the top section of the app displays the individual battery levels for each earpiece and case visually. When the headset is connected, Android OS will automatically push a drop-down notice for the battery levels.

A guide for the touch controls, sound modes, ear-tip seal testing, in-ear recognition, audio switching for compatible devices connected to your Google account, multi-point connectivity, and details for Google Assistant on the headset are further possibilities. The app also allows you to upgrade the Pixel Buds Pro’s firmware.

Battery life of Google Pixel Buds Pro

The Sony WF-1000XM4 and Apple AirPods Pro are two strong competitors for the Google Pixel Buds Pro in the premium TWS market. Given that its feature-set is targeted towards Android smartphone and tablet consumers, it is positioned quite differently from those two alternatives.

The Pixel Buds Pro obviously fall short of the Sony WF-1000XM4 and Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3, both of which are device agnostic with regard to app support and boast cutting-edge Bluetooth codec support, even though direct comparisons versus the AirPods Pro wouldn’t be totally fair.

Google Pixel Buds Pro Review and Verdict

The Google Pixel Buds line has been around for a while as the company’s “ecosystem” play, but until now, it lacked a crucial flagship model. With helpful features like active noise reduction, app integration, and quick hands-free access to Google Assistant, the Google Pixel Buds Pro provides precisely what you’d expect from a premium headset.
