After playing himself in the Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special, where he was kidnapped for being Chris Pratt’s character Peter Quill’s favorite hero, Kevin Bacon got another great credit for his acting career. He is, of course, not a hero in real life. Instead, he is an actor who has played many heroes, which may disappoint some people in the end, but those works are definitely worth looking back on.
If you’ve already seen the Guardians of the Galaxy special, we’ll leave you the tapes that show why he’s many people’s favorite actor.
Best Kevin Bacon Movies
Even though Kevin Bacon was already a movie star, Apollo 13 made him one of the most popular actors of the time. He co-starred in this story about astronauts who made it back to Earth safely after their mission went wrong. Bacon plays Jack Swigert, an astronaut who was a Command Module Pilot on Apollo 13. He gives a brutal performance, mixing his usual humor with his dramatic skills and pushing them to the limit in this story.
Frost/Nixon is a movie where Bacon shines even though he doesn’t have the main role. The play shows what happened before entertainment host David Frost got an exclusive interview with disgraced former President Richard Nixon after the Watergate scandal. The journalist’s job was to get answers from the president. Even though the script and Michael Sheen and Frank Langella’s performances as the main characters took some liberties, the tape is still great. Jack Brennan, the character Bacon plays, was a Marine who worked closely with Richard Nixon to protect his public and political image.
Clint Eastwood directed this well-reviewed and Oscar-nominated movie, which is based on the same-named book and tells the story of three men who grew up in Boston and lost touch with each other years after they were friends. One of them was sexually assaulted, another’s daughter went missing, and a third was assigned to that case as a detective, which brought them all back together. In another of his great roles from the turn of the century, Bacon plays the detective.
X-Men: First Class
Kevin Bacon had already been in a Marvel movie before he played himself. In this prequel tape, the story of how the X-Men came to be is told. Here, the actor plays the bad guy Sebastian Shaw, who has been around for a long time and did experiments on mutants while he was in the Nazis. The movie is one of the best in the series, and Michael Fassbender’s work as Magneto shines in it.
Oliver Stone’s movie is about what happened before President John F. Kennedy was shot and killed in Dallas, Texas, in 1963. The play was nominated for an Oscar and praised for its cast and story. However, it has a lot of wrong facts and a few conspiracy theories. Willie O’Keefe, who Bacon plays, is a prostitute who is in jail and is said to have seen what happened.
