Wednesday by Tim Burton is one of those dark series that appeals to the dark side in all of us (to a greater or lesser extent), but it’s not the only one worth learning about.

The main characters in these stories are black magic, witches, supernatural elements, and weird, out-of-place people. The darkness is not caused by bad lighting, but by deep themes, complicated situations, and fantasies with small touches of horror that make everything more interesting.

Tim Burton knows that we don’t always want happy, simple stories where everything works out, which is why he gave Wednesday Addams her own story. However, this series (which could have a second season) is in good company with many other great stories that break the rules a bit, explore more disturbing worlds, and always have happy endings.

In the Christina Ricci movies, Wednesday is “punished” by having to watch a marathon of kids’ movies. In the TV show, Wednesday’s worst fear is watching Legally Blonde, but there are many other things that would make her and anyone who can relate to her very happy.
